Accounts Payable Manager

Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional looking for a role where you can take ownership of a busy finance function and lead a team?
We are recruiting for an Accounts Payable Manager to join an established finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.
This is a hands-on management role, combining responsibility for the day-to-day Accounts Payable function with wider finance responsibilities including reconciliations, payment runs, reporting support and process improvements.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring suppliers and employees are paid accurately and on time, while also leading and supporting the Accounts Payable team.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and support the Accounts Payable team, including Finance Assistants and Accounts Payable Administrators

Oversee the processing and payment of supplier invoices

Manage weekly supplier and employee expense payment runs

Ensure supplier accounts and control accounts are accurately reconciled

Oversee the Finance Helpdesk and ensure supplier queries are resolved within agreed timescales

Set up new supplier accounts in line with company procedures

Review and process employee expenses through Concur

Complete monthly reconciliations including bank, creditor and debtor control accounts

Reconcile company credit cards and payment platforms

Support the reporting team with balance sheet reconciliations and journals

Assist with year-end statutory audit requirements

Ensure accurate and timely P11D submissions

Support finance projects, including UAT testing, training and implementation

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and working practices
The role also carries responsibility for managing team performance, workload and development, working closely with the Head of Finance.
About You
We are looking for an organised and detail-focused finance professional with strong Accounts Payable experience and the confidence to lead a team.
You will ideally have:

Previous experience within Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or a similar finance function

Experience managing or supervising a finance team

Strong reconciliation and payment processing experience

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to resolve queries effectively and build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Good Microsoft Office and Excel skills

Excellent organisational and time-management skill
