Are you an ambitious and meticulous Assistant Accountant seeking to advance your career in a supportive and friendly environment? This role is ideal for someone who is part-qualified with AAT and ideally has experience with SageLine50. Reporting to the Operations Manager and supported by an external firm of accountants, this position offers a blend of responsibilities and an excellent opportunity to grow within the finance function of the company.
The Role:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing the company's financial transactions and ensuring the smooth operation of both accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions. Your main responsibilities will include:
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Raising sales invoices promptly and accurately.
- Allocating incoming cash receipts to the appropriate accounts.
- Managing credit control by monitoring overdue accounts and pursuing payments to maintain healthy cash flow.
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Inputting purchase invoices into the accounting system.
- Allocating payments to suppliers and ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Handling supplier queries and reconciling supplier statements.
Bank Reconciliations:
- Performing regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are investigated promptly.
In addition to these core responsibilities, you will assist with other finance-related tasks as required by the Operations Manager, ensuring the company's financial processes are efficient and effective.
About You the Assistant Accountant:
The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications and attributes:
Qualifications:
- AAT part-qualified or working towards full qualification.
- Experience using SageLine50 is desirable.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in an accounting role, particularly within AR and AP functions.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
