Make a real difference with your finance expertise. Over the past six years, this company has significantly expanded their community activity and now seek a Finance Manager to join a small, highly collaborative Head Office team. Flexible working is supported to fit your lifestyle.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage day-to-day financial operations and support a trading subsidiary. You will supervise one direct report (Finance Administrator) and work closely with a small but expert senior management team. You will take responsibility for management accounts, budgets, cash management, payroll, VAT and the smooth running of financial systems.
About You
- Accounting or business qualification preferred
- Demonstrable finance experience with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Highly proficient in Excel and major Microsoft programs; experience with Xero or similar accounting systems is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain compliance under Companies Act regulations
- Able to work independently, manage competing deadlines and maintain professionalism and confidentiality
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive, enthusiastic and collaborative approach to problem-solving and teamwork
- Line management experience is preferable but not essential
- Experience working with external financial or service providers is desirable
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including income, expenditure, receivables, supplier payments, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management accounts, cash management reports, budgets, forecasts, and retail metrics
- Manage payroll in partnership with external providers; ensure staff expenses, pensions and adjustments are processed accurately
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure charity and subsidiary systems are up to date
- Act as operational finance contact
- Manage one part-time Finance Administrator
- Support external annual audit preparation and fieldwork
- Review and approve quarterly VAT returns and ensure policy compliance
- Manage facilities contracts, including gas and electricity renewals
- Carry out additional tasks to support the development of the finance team and organisation
