2) The Role
As a Management Accountant / Bookkeeper, you will work closely with a varied portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality bookkeeping and management accounting services while becoming a trusted point of contact for financial support and guidance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Daily bookkeeping using Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices and accounting transactions
- Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate accounting records
- Reconciling control accounts including VAT, payroll, debtors and creditors
- Reviewing bookkeeping work completed by junior team members
- Posting monthly payroll journals
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Producing financial reports and supporting schedules
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns across a variety of VAT schemes
- Preparing and submitting CIS returns
- Liaising directly with clients regarding accounting queries
- Providing Xero support and training to clients
- Attending client premises where required
- Supporting a variety of ad-hoc accounting and finance projects

3) About You
We are keen to hear from candidates who have strong bookkeeping experience and a proactive, client-focused approach.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or outsourced finance environment
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Strong control account reconciliation experience
- Previous management accounts experience is advantageous
- AAT Qualified (highly desirable)
- Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Xero certification advantageous
- Experience with systems such as Datamolino, Expensify, Concur or Fathom beneficial but not essential
- Excellent Excel, Word and Outlook skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- A positive and collaborative approach to teamwork
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
